Day 6
Date: 01-12-2016
Route: Pokhrang to Dharan
Distance: 166 Km

Return journey from unknown path are easier than onward journey. As I was aware of road conditions, distance etc. , I felt a bit relaxed. I completed the return journey of 75 Kms in 4 hours and reached Basantapur at 12:30 PM from where the good road begins. I had a check up of my bike and washing at Dhankuta and reached Dharan at 5:00 PM. Took a hotel and had some hard drink with “sekuwa” (nepali style tandoori chicken) for the first time during the trip to celebrate my successful completion of my first leg of Nepal trip. The hotel manager gave me the company. Some pics of the day..
Back to chainpur... looked for the policeman who helped me... but was off duty again..

Went to meet some facebook friends. Went to the house where my grandpa was born. It was 7 Kms away from the place I stayed. Did some hiking of 2 hours to reach there.  Though there was a new house and grandsons of my grandpa’s elder sister was living there. They greeted me and had a long conversation with the family members. Went to field where they were sowing wheat seeds.
Place where my grandfather was born. Though the house is newly built but this was the place as confirmed by people living in the house,

One elderly person died on the way to Hospital last night. He was taken to Viratnagar a city near India border (180 Kms. Away) for treatment. He died after reaching the hospital. Good healthcare is out of reach from people here. Poor road communication has hampered the development in these regions. These regions lack quality healthcare, education and other basic facilities. Young generation is settling either in plains or flying abroad for better earning source.
Coming here on motorcycle and staying 2-3 days may be an adventure ride for me but these roads and conditions are part of their daily life.
